Tips for Tying a Constrictor Knot

  • Plan before tying — this knot is usually cut rather than untied.
  • A slipped constrictor (bight in last step) can be released with one pull.
  • Extremely useful for whipping frayed rope ends in the field — grips so well it replaces a proper whipping.
  • Use on hose connections, bag closures, and anywhere you need a grip that will never slip.
